Refiners manufacture ultra-low sulphur diesel fuel using a process called hydro-treating. While this process is very good at removing sulphur, some beneficial properties of the diesel are also removed. When you purchase ULSD, most likely the distributor has used additives to to improve the lubricity. Unfortunately, you don't know what you are buying.
